Sand Snakes - yeah I went there
So I was bored the other day and spent an hour or so trying to solve the mystery of what the hell FFG are trying to get us to do with the new Sand Snake cards. This is what I came up with:
Snakes on a Mountain
Martell - House of Dreams (The Red Mountains)
Total Cards: (65)
Plot:
1x Valar Morghulis (Core Set)
1x Fury of the Sun (Ancient Enemies)
1x Betrayal at the Wall (The Horn That Wakes)
1x City of Sin (A Time of Trials)
1x City of Soldiers (The Battle of Blackwater Bay)
1x City of Lies (City of Secrets)
1x A City Besieged (Chasing Dragons)
1x To the Spears! (Princes of the Sun)
Character: (33)
1x Dorea Sand (Tourney for the Hand)
2x Nymeria Sand (The Valemen)
2x Loreza Sand (The Blue is Calling)
1x Obella Sand (A Time for Wolves)
1x Elia Sand (The Prize of the North)
1x Maiden of Poisons (On Dangerous Grounds)
1x Tyene Sand (A Deadly Game)
2x Watchful Servant (Chasing Dragons)
3x Greenseer's Raven (Secrets and Schemes)
2x Desert Raider (The Champion's Purse)
1x Quentyn Martell (The Great Fleet)
3x Prince's Attendant (Secrets and Schemes)
2x House Dayne Skirmisher (Princes of the Sun)
1x Ser Jaime Lannister (The Kingsguard)
1x Ser Arys Oakheart (The Kingsguard)
1x Southron Mercenaries (The Battle of Blackwater Bay)
2x The Red Viper (Princes of the Sun)
3x Refugee of the Citadel (Refugees of War)
1x Arianne Martell (Princes of the Sun)
1x Areo Hotah (Princes of the Sun)
1x Hellholt Engineer (Called by the Conclave)
Attachment: (6)
2x Snakeskin Veil (Called by the Conclave)
3x Venomous Blade (The Battle of Blackwater Bay)
1x Blood of the Viper (Of Snakes and Sand)
Event: (9)
1x A Nest of Vipers (Tourney for the Hand)
3x Blood for Blood (Princes of the Sun)
2x He Calls It Thinking (Princes of the Sun)
3x Parting Blow (Princes of the Sun)
Location: (17)
1x Red Mountain Keep (The Valemen)
2x The Red Mountains (A Deadly Game)
1x The Scourge (On Dangerous Grounds)
2x Water Garden (Princes of the Sun)
3x Palace Fountains (Princes of the Sun)
1x Kingdom of Shadows (Kings of the Sea)
1x Street of Sisters (Core Set)
1x Street of Silk (Lions of the Rock)
1x Shadowblack Lane (Core Set)
1x The Kingsroad 23 (Fire and Ice)
1x The Kingsroad 29 (Fire and Ice)
2x Harrenhal (Ancestral Home)
Essentially, the idea is that you use The Red Mountains to make characters with 'Kill to x' or 'When killed do y' abilities Sand Snakes, so that they trigger your actual Snakes like Nymeria and Loreza. Hopefully, the rarely-played-but-actually-quite-strong control effects on Nym, Desert Raider, Watchful Servant, combined with more standard control like Parting Blow, Blood for Blood, Venomous Blade, Cities will give you an effective control package. Dayne Skirmisher, Prince's Attendant, Loreza and Parting Blow key off the same engine to net you cards. Dorea/To the Spears plus Nest of Vipers gives you a surprise finisher, or there's always the old 'make the Viper his own daughter and whack a Veil on him' plan.
So, anyone reckon there might actually be something in this? I haven't tested it and likely won't any time soon but it'd be nice if these new Martell cards weren't all binder fodder.

Yes, this jank will do nicely. I'll take the bottle.

Really? I've found it to be suitably irritating when I've played with/against it, although admittedly that has only been in Melee.

Re: Sand Snakes - yeah I went there
Actually, that's fair enough in melee - 3 icons is better than one (The Brimstone also fantastic in multiplayer) - however I think i'd rather go for... hang on, it's 65 cards already: cut cut cut! HoD a 1-cost location seems risky but i guess that's what the blue birds are there for.
I really like Loreza Sand. The way i see it, you're always going to draw cards off of her one way or another. Valar your Sand Snakes: hit draw cap in the plot phase, lovely.

Re: Sand Snakes - yeah I went there
I guess my main reason for not cutting her was that my number of actual Sand Snakes is pretty low - only 7 not counting dupes. Hard to tell without testing how important that is given that I can make my own, but for now I think this is the build I'll test if I ever get round to testing.
